American Motorcycle Review
|
We at American Motorcycle Review live, breathe, and work motorcycles. It's what we do. With the advent of TV shows such as 'American Chopper', 'Biker Build Off', and 'Build or Bust', the chopper has emerged from the shady alleyways of biker bars to mainstream America.
Along with the exposure and popularity of choppers comes new demands for motorcycles and choppers for the public to buy. |

2006 American Ironhorse Chopper
|
Manufacturers of choppers and custom bikes have popped up all over the country. Apparently everyone that watches 'American Chopper' believes that they have the skills to build a chopper on their own, and then sell them for high dollar amounts. We've all seen them, the "franken-chopper" at A&W on Friday night.
What we have done, and are currently working to accomplish, is to provide a resource for persons looking to purchase a custom motorcycle or chopper. We have started with some of the basics, the mass production companies that manufacture more than a 100 motorcycles a year.
Companies such as American Ironhorse and Big Dog Motorcycles produce quality motorcycles at affordable prices. With a diversity of models and styles both American Ironhorse and Big Dog Motorcycles can meet most of the needs and wants of the average motorcycle enthusiast. Since their bikes are semi-custom, you can add in some upgrades or non-factory pipes that change the profile of the bike making it truly unique for just a few dollars.
Complete custom motorcycles are a different animal. These choppers are hand crafted from the ground up and for all intents and purposes are one-of-a-kind motorcycles. Since these motorcycles are unique and completely custom, they usually command high dollar prices. Choppers like these, or ones seen on TV, can reach dollar amounts well above 100K.
Eventually, we will be bringing reviews of custom motorcycle and chopper builders from around the country. As well find builders and get some information on the motorcycles they build we will work to provide honest reviews of their motorcycles.
If you are a custom motorcycle builder or sell choppers, and would like to be on our links page, please contact us with your link information and we will gladly trade links with you. If you have a motorcycle that you would like to have listed on our page, contact us with information about your chopper and we will get in touch with you to see about getting the motorcycle reviewed. |

ALL NEW 2006
K-9 Chopper from Big Dog
Motorcycles
This chopper is right off the assembly
line. The K-9 Chopper is
just down right awesome.
300MM Rear tire on a softail
frame! The 117 S&S
Polished motor is nasty, but
throw in the Baker Balanced
Drive and you'll be blown away
by the combination of power and
handling. Oh, don't forget
the 39 degree rake on the frame,
12" overstock forks, and Baker 6
Speed Transmission. |
 |
2006 Ridgeback Chopper from Big Dog
Motorcycles
The 2006 Ridgeback by Big Dog
Motorcycles is an excellent example of old
school style and muscle. The Ridgeback
features a phat 300MM rear tire, supported
by a rigid frame. The 37 degree rake
frame gives enough stretch to make this a
true chopper, but doesn't take away from
handling like other stretched choppers. |
 |
2006 Chopper by Big Dog Motorcycles
Big Dog has refined the chopper with it's
latest redesign of the Big Dog Chopper.
The A-Frame swing arm makes the ride smooth
as silk and the 37 degree rake frame shows
off the bikes muscle. An S&S 117
Polished motor comes standard and gives
plenty of power to this smooth riding
chopper. |

10th Anniversary Edition 2006 Texas
Chopper
This bike is hot! A perfect combination
of power, ride-ability, and
aesthetics! The custom
motorcycle comes complete with a
124 S&S Polished Motor, Right
Side Drive and Six Speed
Transmission. A custom colored
paint scheme designed by
American Ironhorse to reflect
their image of the chopper,
diamond cut cylinder heads, and
a chrome frame. |
 |
2006 LSC Chopper from American Ironhorse
The 2006 American Ironhorse LSC is perhaps
one of the best tributes to a forgotten era.
American Ironhorse has incorporated a rigid
frame into this design. Combine that with an
S&S Power plant and you have one mean
machine. Resting on a 280 rear tire isn't
too shabby either. The shotgun hard-tail
frame uses a 4" Top Tube and 8" Downtube
stretch to achieve that old-school chopper
look. |
 |
Swift Motorcycles Bar Chopper
The Bar Chopper is by far one of the toughest looking choppers on the market today. The 2" Tubing on the frame gives this bike it's unique look while providing added strength to the bike itself. Standard is a 113 S&S Motor with Baker 6 Speed Transmission. The Bar Chopper is available in both Rigid and Softail style frames. |
 |
Wild West Dragoon Chopper
Wild West Motorcycles has raised the bar on
chopper design with the Dragoon Chopper.
Forget the past, look to the future!
Wild West has certainly accomplished their
goal of bringing motorcycle design into the
future. |
